Keeping us on our toes...

I think these babies do just that...Keep us on our toes. The minute we think we have Lily all figured out she throws us for a loop. How come she sleeps through the night for over week and then decides to not? For NO reason. And Im not buying a growth spurt. We "think" she is sleeping through the night again...at least she has been good the last couple nights but I dont want to jinx it. There are days I really wish she could just talk and tell me whats up? She goes through not eating phases then eating...I get worried and then she is fine again. Who knows. I guess I just have to roll with it and we will get through this eventually. ha ha.

Yesterday Miss Lily got to visit with her Uncle Jordan and Auntie Jenn. While Jordan was holding Lily I told him he could play on the computer if he wanted. The next thing we knew "Little Mermaid" was blasting over the speakers! Which turned into a family sing along! ha ha ha. Why on earth he thought of the Little Mermaid I will never know but it was hilarious. Guess he really is ready for kids! I am sorry I dont have a photo of Lily with Auntie Jenn but I did snag a quick one of Uncle Jordy and Lily hanging out...



Thanks to the family for coming to visit! Lily (and I) really enjoyed seeing you both. We will see you in Reno in a couple weeks!

Lily's favorite book

I know Lily is still kinda young for books but you can never start too early right? I have tried to read to her a few times and she has had zero interest. A couple of days ago I found this butterfly book at Pottery Barn Kids and decided to see if Lily was interested. Boy did I get the biggest smiles as I flipped through the pages. She LOVED it. I was excited at her reaction so I of course bought it and it is now her favorite book! She still gets HUGE smiles when we look at it. I think we may need to buy the Bird in the nest book next! Here is a couple phone pics of the book of the cover and her FAVORITE page...





In case you cant really tell from the photos. Your finger goes in the back of the book and wiggles the cute little butterfly. I think Lily likes butterflies like her mommy :)

Me..Suzi Homemaker?

What has happened to me? I think I have been bitten by the suzi homemaker bug? First I decide I need to start cooking...and now SEWING? Oh MY! Babies make you go nuts I think! ha ha ha. Just teasing. I have always been a crafty person but sewing was just a skill I never had. I decided I wanted to fix that problem and LEARN. So on tuesday evening I took a class at JoAnn Fabrics with a wonderful old lady named Isabel. She was so sweet and a great teacher...I think I might be hooked! I am going to take one more class and if all goes well I am going to take the plunge and get a sewing machine. I figured it would be fun to make cute little dresses for Lily and I always enjoy making Christmas gifts for the girls in my family (not sure how much they love it? LOL). We will see what I can pull off. For now here is my VERY first finished project...A beautiful Pillow Case!



Not too shabby :) I will post my next project soon.

And in case you were wondering...My dinners have been going pretty good. So far I have had success even when I thought I had ruined the dinner. I keep forgetting to take photos but I will post some of the meals when I remember to take a pic!

Taking the Good with the Bad...

Its amazing that the smallest thing can feel like the end of the world. Lily has been a bit difficult the last few days and I think there have been tears from both of us. Passing her off to Dad when he gets home from work has been heaven. I feel bad even complaining.....and as I sit here tonight I realize that we really have to take the good with the bad. Everyday is not going to be perfect. And sorry no baby is a perfect angel EVERYDAY. There is going to be days that just plain suck and days that are better. And of course those smiles will help you realize that is really is all worth it. I am a fix it kinda person though and when I am dealing with a screaming, fussing, difficult baby who is not eating good I want to cry. I want to know what the heck is wrong? "USE YOUR WORDS" is what I want to say...LOL. I was pretty upset tonight and Dan reminded me how lucky we are that Lily goes to sleep so easy for us. Not a lot of effort or fight. I know some people have lots of trouble. She is also mostly sleeping through the night. We havent had to feed her in the middle of the night but she does wake up and need a binky replaced and last night I did have to rock her back to sleep at 4am...but its only been about a week. So no complaining right? I think I just want to be a good mom and make sure my baby is okay. When I dont know whats wrong it does make me want to cry. I want her to tell me so I can fix it. But I have to remind myself that there is not always a perfect solution. Babies fuss. Im trying, learning and doing what I can...but this baby business is HARD WORK :)

And dont get me wrong I LOVE my little girl.....Just dont love fussy :) I think that is understandable.

Here is Miss Cuteness after she knows she has driven me batty. I think its her way of "making up". Could she look any more innocent? LOL



Thanks for letting me vent....Fingers crossed life will be back to "Lily Normal" tomorrow! ha ha

Mom is going bald.

Yes its true. What on earth is with all this hair loss? I am confident if it keeps on this route 1) I am going to need a wig in another month and 2) We may have to invest stock in Drano. Seriously. What in the heck? I keep being told its what happens post pregnancy. Really? Are you sure you are not just saying that to make me feel better? Hmpf. So if it REALLY is the truth is their light at the end of the tunnel? How long will I be pulling handfuls out of my hair? Did it happen to you?

Fussy=Too hot?

I think Lily HATES to be hot? Im not sure...but if she was my daughter she would LOVE the summer warmth. But Im thinking she takes after her dad who also hates to be hot. Its been a rough couple of days. We took her to the fair in Newberg Sunday and then yesterday we attempted the pool. Can you say FUSSY BABY! Had to leave the pool as Lily thought it would be fun to scream her head off which is NOT normal for her. Everyone at the pool giving me dirty looks...and all the while I am thinking "Great...I am one of those annoying people with screaming kids in a public place." LOL. I had to have a sitter for a couple hours to make sure I could stay sane. Love those days huh? And today this is what I wake up to...




Guess she is all better today! What a booger. All is well so far. Fingers crossed she stays an angel today. Or mommy is shipping her to Dave & Nancy's! ha ha ha

Lily has been getting quite talkative lately. She hit 3 months and has decided to tell us lots of stories. It makes me laugh even more when she stares right at my iphone as I am taking video. I Love Mommy!

You ever notice that all the little girl outfits only seem to say I love Daddy? And the little boy I love Mommy? Hello....I want I LOVE MOMMY for Lily! I finally found a little onesie that says it and I snagged it right up! She has quite the funny expression but I promise she really DOES love mommy! ha ha

Frames Finally Filled...

Being a photographer I have NO excuse. And in fact if I knew my clients were doing this I would cry. Yes I am going to admit it. I hang EMPTY frames. Wow. Cant believe I admitted it but its the truth. I have had these frames up in our bedroom for longer than I remember (or at least longer than I am going to openly post ha ha). The excuse I am using is I was waiting for Lily! Although that is a big lie as we only decided we were gonna have a little one a small 12 months ago (oops...that puts a bit of a timeline on those empty frames).

The wait is finally over! I have filled the frames with photos of my beautiful girl and I am so happy to wake up and see them on the wall in my room. If there are any of you that have Empty Frames on your walls. COME SEE ME! I will help fill them! LOL

Are you a Mommy Blogger???

I know there are at least a few of you that read my blog and also have your own. My husband seems to think that Mommy Bloggers are the next big thing? What do you think? I know Miss Lily's blog seems to be sorta popular :) How can you resist the little cutie right? ha ha. I will admit I enjoy looking at my friends and clients blogs just to see what they are up to and see how big the kids are. Oh and I like to make sure they give Bliss a little love....JUST KIDDING! But seriously it is fun to read, learn and see what is up. Dan also thinks that these same mommy bloggers are wanting photo tips and tricks as they are constantly posting photos of their kids. Video from the Babysitters

I must admit its ADORABLE when your babysitters send you updates/photos or EVEN Video of your little one. I think it is always good to know that your child is having a good time and not being a fussy pants for her sitters. I have said it before...If our kids were not good for other people we would NEVER have babysitters. Lily is usually an angel when she is being watched by her adopted Grandparents, Dave & Nancy. They are keeping an eye on her today while I do a little album design which requires NO distractions (even cute ones). I am super thankful for the computer time and love the feeling of accomplishment! So thanks to the Hutt's for helping out! I REALLY appreciate it. Anyway...I took this two minute break so I could share the video they just sent me.

She Sleeps...

Well we have had a couple full nights without having to get up and feed Miss Lily! Its AMAZING! Last night I did have to get up and put a binky in her mouth a couple times from 3am-6am. But she managed to go back to sleep till 7:45! What a HUGE difference it makes when parents have a full nights sleep. Lily is just so much cuter! Ha Ha! Fingers crossed we can keep on the path of SLEEP! Go LILY!

How on earth? 10,000 views to little miss Lily's blog! How did she get so popular? Must be because she is too cute! LOL. It will be fun when she gets bigger to explain how I started this little blog about her so friends and family could watch her grow and what a hit it was! How exciting it will be for her to read all the posts and comments from everyone! A perfect recap of her life for her to read. Times sure have changed huh? We can now document our childs' lives via the web. I still think its good to have something tangible such as a baby book but this blog helps fill in the gaps and may be filled with more day to day goodies rather than just a general recap.

Randomness...

Been a bit since I have posted so I think I will just fill this post with some random stuff that I think..thats been happening and whatever else I come up with :)

Here you go....


1. You know you are a parent when the text I get from Dan last night says "Poop". Thats all it said! I was laughing. Yes...we have to discuss Lily's poop! Cracks me up.

2. Baby Wipes pet peeve. I finally figured out how the baby wipe companies make so much money...Cause its IMPOSSIBLE to pull out just ONE baby wipe. Nope...2-3 must come out at once. So you are holding your baby's legs juggling a diaper trying to get a wipe and 3 come out. ANNOYING! Someone really must fix this problem. I thought it was just me till I saw it happen to one of my clients. So its NOT just me! Dumb things.

3. Lily is almost 3 months and night time still kinda sucks. We are luckily down to just one feeding sometime in the middle of the night (from 3am- 6am) which is GREAT. But there are still rough nights. I am praying they will end soon but I hear we wont be sleeping good for the next 18 years! Yeah for us :) ha ha

4. My clients are cracking me up. They are ALL requesting I bring Lily to their appointments. Which I both love and hate. Love it that everyone wants to see her and honestly its easier on me if on the quick appointments I can just bring her...no need to find a sitter. BUT....Going to work is like a Mini Vacation :) So I dont want to bring her! ha ha Just teasing....I dont mind most days...Depends on what is happening at the appointment :)

5. Date night? Whats that? I think we might be in need of one. But honestly I think we would fall asleep if we tried to go out. Guess Date afternoon? LOL

6. Dan and I are so Thankful for our good friends Dave & Nancy. We are not blessed with having our families close by so Dave & Nancy have graciously stepped in as another set of grandparents for Lily. If it werent for them we would NEVER have a break. We couldnt thank them enough for taking care of Lily from time to time so I can work...or we can run quick errands. Oh and about that Date night??? ha ha ha ha.....Just teasing. Thanks to the both of you for all your help! Lily is very lucky to have so many people that love her.

7. Instagram anyone? If you use the app you can follow blisswhitney. I will post pics of Miss Lily and other randomness. In fact the two images I have posted here are from that app. Its fun!

8. Dinners have been going semi okay. I kept the dinner menu up perfectly the first week and then got sick....big bummer. But I will be getting back on it soon. Dan has ate my dinners with no complaining and I think he might have even liked it! LOL. Or he just liked the fact it was ready when he got home? Either way....its worth the effort and I will post some of the success dinners. I just need to remember to take a pic of the finished product.

9. Which reminds me...MOM's DO NOT GET SICK DAYS! Ugh! Getting sick sucks...getting sick AND taking care of a little one...MAJOR SUCKS. You think you have patience...and then you get sick...its all over. Thankfully Dan helped a ton and fed her in the middle of the night several days in a row (we usually take turns) so I could try and get better quickly. Its hard to get better when you are stressed, not sleeping and not eating good, etc. Oh well. Lets hope I can stay healthy now.

Simple things...

Its funny how the simplest things can just melt your heart once you are a parent. Dan and I enjoy so much our weekend mornings watching and playing with Lily. She coos and smiles and just makes us happy. Even if we have a rough night she makes it very hard to be upset! ha ha. Hard to be mad at something so cute huh? Yesterday Dan and Lily were snuggling in the hammock in our backyard...It made me melt. For one its a sight I never thought I would see...Dan snuggling with a Baby? ha ha. But to see how happy it made him made it even better. I didnt have my camera on me but I snagged a quick iphone pic just to share the sweetness. Dont judge the pic! LOL

Lily's 1st 4th of July

We didnt think a firework show would be that entertaining for Lily this year so we decided to have a BBQ at our house for our friends who didnt mind missing the firework show. Now we still got to hear booms until late hours of the night but we didnt actually watch any fireworks. I am not sure Lily liked all the booming. It was a bit of a rough night getting that little girl to sleep and mommy was not feeling too hot. Bad combination. How do mom's get sick days? Oh yeah they dont. Dan stayed home to help today (thanks honey) so lets hope I am better as quick as possible. I think the lack of sleep and craziness over the last few days has finally caught up to me. I just need some good sleep and relaxation I think. We will see how it goes.
